Students of the Department of Electrical Engineering Education FT UNY again made a glorious achievement in the National Selection (Seleknas) of the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition (ASC) Competitors organized by the Ministry of Manpower (5-9 / 09/2017). In this event, 1 bronze medal in the field of Mobile Robotics was won by a team consisting of Doniansyah Dimas and Rahmat Nur Sidhiq. In addition to winning medals and coaching money, medalists are also entitled to attend the Training Center for 10 months, because the first, second and third winners will be selected again to be chosen as 2 representatives from each field to represent Indonesia at the 12th Worldskills ASEAN Bangkok event 2018. ASC itself becomes a very important event because it is a means for Indonesia to promote its workforce qualifications in order to increase the dignity and honor of the nation at the international level, especially in the ASEAN region.
Overall, the ASC XII Seleknas was attended by 300 (three hundred) people, consisting of 167 Champion I in the Provincial Selection, 35 Champion I in the Student Skills Institute (LKS) and 98 participants from the results of the industry selection / Job Training Institute (LPK). The Secretary General of the Ministry of Manpower, Hery Sudarmanto, explained that all participants competed to become the three best in each of their vocational. The three best participants will then undergo training camps at the designated education and training institutions, "said Hery. "To continue to be prepared to become ambassadors of the Indonesian nation at the 2018 ASEAN World Summit II in Thailand," said Secretary General Hery.

Besides at BBPLK Bekasi, ASC XII was also held at BBPLK Bekasi, Serang, Bandung and Semarang. The ASC opening was also held at Bandung Tourism College, Induatri Kayu Training Center (PPPIK-PIKA) Semarang, Development and Empowerment Center for Educators and Education Personnel (PPPPTK) -BOE Malang, LPP Mooryati Soedibyo Jakarta, Puspita Martha International Beauty School Jakarta and Bina University Nusantara (Binus) Jakarta.

Competitions included 20 vocational championships namely automobile technology, beauty therapy, bricklaying, cabinet marking, cooking, electrical installation, electronics, fashion technology, graphic design technology, hair dressing, industrial automation, IT network system administration, IT software solutions for business, mechanical engineering design, mechatronics, mobile robotics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, restaurant service, web design technology and welding.
